<p>Klinik ve akademik çalışmalarını özellikle pediatrik toraks cerrahisi, aerodigestif sistem cerrahisi, ön barsak ve özofagus cerrahisi, minimal invaziv cerrahi, neonatal torakoskopi ve robotik cerrahi alanlarında sürdürmektedir. Ege Üniversitesi’nde çocuk cerrahisi uzmanlık eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra, 2010 yılında ESPU bursu ile Birleşik Krallık Leeds St James’s University Hospital’da gözlemci fellowship programına katılmış; 2018 yılında European Board of Paediatric Surgery Fellow’u olmuştur.</p><p>2018 yılından bu yana odaklanmış pediatrik toraks ve aerodigestif cerrahi pratiği yürütmekte; konjenital akciğer malformasyonları, diyafragma patolojileri, hava yolu ve trakea hastalıkları, özofagus atrezisi ilişkili komplikasyonlar, özofagus rekonstrüksiyonu, mediastinal ve torasik tümörler ile göğüs duvarı deformiteleri alanlarında ileri düzey klinik deneyime sahiptir. Çocuklarda yenilikçi minimal invaziv tekniklerin geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması konusunda öncü çalışmaları bulunmaktadır.</p><p>Akademik kariyeri boyunca çok sayıda uluslararası yayın, bildiri, araştırma projesi ve tez danışmanlığı gerçekleştirmiştir. Uluslararası indeksli yayınları ve atıfları bulunan Doç. Dr. Dökümcü, aynı zamanda cerrahi eğitim, müfredat geliştirme, mentorluk ve uluslararası kurs organizasyonları alanlarında aktif rol almaktadır. European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association Education Office Chair ve International Pediatric EndoSurgery Group yönetim kurulu üyeliği görevlerini yürütmekte olup diğer ulusal/uluslararası mesleki kuruluşlarda yönetim ve eğitim görevlerinde yer almaktadır. Ayrıca Ege Üniversitesi Laboratuvar Hayvanları Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi Müdürlüğü görevini sürdürmektedir.</p>
