Özet

Teachers’ organizational commitment is a crucial issue for improving educational quality and student accomplishment in the educational system. Teachers' commitment to the school strengthens their bonds with it and contributes to its success. However, teachers' level of commitment to their schools varies across schools. It is very important to identify the factors affecting teachers' organizational commitment and its level. The leadership style demonstrated by school principals is one of the important factors affecting teachers' organizational commitment. Among the different leadership styles, inclusive leadership has gained recognition as an effective approach in fostering a positive organizational climate and promoting commitment among employees. Inclusive leadership entails creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values diversity, encourages collaboration, and empowers individuals to contribute their unique perspectives and talents. While previous research has explored the relationship between leadership styles and organizational commitment, limited attention has been given to the mediating mechanisms through which leadership styles impact commitment. In this study, it is aimed to examine the mediating role of psychological empowerment in the relationship between the transformational leadership behaviors of school principals and teachers' organizational commitment based on the teachers' responses. This research is a correlational study in quantitative research design. The research is a descriptive study in sense of relational model. This research consisted of 644 teachers from 50 secondary schools located in Manisa in 2021-2022 education year. Using Transformational Leadership Scale (TLS), Organizational Commitment Scale (OCS), and Psychological Empowerment Scale (PES), we employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results indicated that principal transformational leadership has indirect effects on teacher organizational commitment through promoting their psychological empowerment. The findings have significant implications for educational leaders and policymakers, highlighting the importance of fostering inclusive leadership practices and empowering teachers to create a supportive and committed educational environment
