Özet

This study aims to develop a highly sensitive and linear magnetic displacement sensor using the magnetic field symmetry of two magnets and the advantages of Hall sensors, motivated by the critical importance of displacement measurement in many precision applications. In the proposed setup, two cylindrical magnets and a Hall sensor were selected as commercially available off-the-shelf components. The effect of magnet size and magnet gap length on the range and sensitivity of the sensor was experimentally tested for selected magnet sizes and was found to be in agreement with the theory. The distance between the selected magnet sets was examined and it was demonstrated that reducing the magnet distance from 18 mm to 4 mm resulted in a tradeoff: the linear measurement range decreased (from 4.89 mm to 735 & micro;m), while the sensitivity markedly increased (from 0.58 mV/& micro;m to 4.01 mV/& micro;m). Guided by the derived closed-form framework, a confined-range configuration achieved an extreme experimental sensitivity of 11.33 mV/& micro;m, confirming the predictive accuracy of the proposed design equations near the sensor's physical operating limits. More importantly, the proposed Taylor coefficient based analytical framework provides a deterministic link between magnet geometry and sensor performance, enabling geometry-driven tuning of sensitivity, range, and nonlinearity. The obtained results were found to be on par with, or in some cases superior to, those reported in recent magnetic displacement sensor studies, making the proposed design a promising option for robotic, biomedical, and control applications, with additional potential in magnetic levitation and tactile sensing.
