DETERMINATION OF THE BIOCHEMICAL CONTENT OF LOCAL PEPPER GENOTYPES AND GENERATION OF GENE POOL WITH QUALIFIED GENITORS FOR THE BREEDING PROGRAM
Project no. 1022 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
Pepper widely cultivated and uses for several purposes among the Solanaceae family in the world. Farmer preferred local population has been used for cultivation and large number of population distributed through the Turkey, mainly in cultivated location. This study was conducted to determine the biochemical properties of local cowpea genotypes obtained from several location of Turkey. In this study, 148 different pepper genotypes were examined for total soluble solid content, titratable acidity, fruit color (L, hue, chroma), chlorophyll (a, b, total) Vitamin C (L ascorbic acid), total phenol and antioksidan activity. The research underlined that large number of biochemical diversity obtained from among the genotypes. The analysis of variation showed that some pepper genotypes showed that particularly for fruit color values, chlorophyll composition, total phenol and antioksidan avtivity comparing to the widely cultivated commercial cultivars, furthermore some genotype can be used as a genitor.
