BRAF, NRAS, TERT, TP53 gene expression analysis in Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma

Project no. 23988 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2022

Summary

Anaplastic thyroid cancer is the most aggressive and rare thyroid cancer with a known survival of 4-6 months after diagnosis. It can be difficult to operate when diagnosed. Therefore, chemotherapy and targeted treatment approaches are preferred. However, due to the occurrence of many new mutations in the tumor structure and the presence of widespread changes in the genome, treatment is not effective enough. In anaplastic thyroid cancer, tumor cells are dedifferentiated and genomic profiling studies have been performed mostly in differentiated cancers. Genomic profiling is important for genomic profiling, and genomic characterization and extraction of genetic alterations are important in the clinical follow-up of tumors. Detailed genomic characterization of tumors also enables a new taxonomy to complement existing histology-based classifications. In our study, mutation analysis and genetic alterations of TP53, BRAF, TERT and NRAS genes, which are among the most frequently mutated genes in the driver gene feature, using fine needle aspiration biopsy specimens and/or paraffin block samples obtained from patients with cytologically diagnosed anaplastic thyroid cancer, were aimed to reveal the potential effects of an important somatic mutation, and to identify mutations that may guide and contribute to the literature.
