Effects of Hydrocyclone Filter Design on the Filtration Performance and Waste Water: A Preliminary Study

Summary
In this project, a preliminary study was carried out on the effect of separator filter design on mechanical filtration efficiency and waste water quantity. For this purpose, pressurized PVC monoblock column type and polyester conical type hydrocyclone separator filters were compared. Within this scope, each filter integrated with the sand filter was operated for 500 hours (100 hours × 5 repetitions) and evaluated by the number and duration of backwashes of the sand filter. There was no difference among the filtrations according to the present results.
