The design of high strength ropes and investigation of its properties

Project no. 760 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

In this study, the effects of structural properties of high strength ropes on some performance characteristics were investigated. For this purpose, as well as the ropes produced without using the core material, monofilament, tubular braid and monofilament cored tubular braid materials were used. In this work, 83/36 dtex, 83/72 dtex and 167/36 dtex polyester FDY filament yarns were used. In order to see the effect of the material used in the sheath section on tensile strength, different filament linear densities and filament numbers were selected in the experimental plan. The tensile strength and elongation (%) values and the diameters of the samples were measured. In addition, longitudinal and cross-sectional images of samples were taken. When the results were evaluated, it was determined that the use of tubular braid and monofilament cored tubular braid structures significantly increased the tensile strength and elongation at break (%) of the sample. When only the tubular braiding was used in the core, higher values were obtained compared to the monofilament cored tubular braid and the difference between them was found statistically significant. The effect of filament fineness and filament number of the sheath material on tensile properties was found to be significant. The tensile strength of samples increased as the linear density of the filament increased. In this work, according to the values of tensile strength and yarn elongation (%) at break, the 6th sample (the sheath material: 167/36 dtex PET FDY and the final yarn number is 3340 dtex yarns / the core material : the only tubular braid) were found best. As a result of the experiments, It was observed that the diameter and strength-elongation properties of the samples (hollow or core material contain) were affected by the properties of the filament yarn used in the sheath. It is thought that it would be useful to examine the abrasion properties of rope materials in later studies.
