PSİKOLOJİK DANIŞMA TRANSKRİPSİYON STANDARTLARININ TÜRKÇEYE UYARLANMASI
Project no. 671 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
The main purpose of the research is to produce a Turkish transcription system which is relatively easy to learn and more suitable for the needs of psychotherapy researchers in Turkey. For this reason, the Psychotherapy Transcription Standards (Mergenthaler & Stinson, 1992a) were adapted to Turkish, and it was hypothesized that the Turkish Version of the Psychotherapy Transcription Standards (TVPTS) would provide to produce more reliable transcripts than the standard Turkish spelling rules (referred as ordinary transcription). Three female third grade undergraduate counselor trainees, whose mean age was 22, were recruited as subjects of the research. The design of this research was a time-series design. Each subject received an audio record of a psychotherapy session weekly for three weeks before the experimental treatment and independently transcribed the audio records by means of the ordinary transcription. As the experimental treatment, subjects were trained about the TVPTS for three hours in two days. Again, each subject received an audio record of a psychotherapy session weekly for three weeks after the experimental treatment and independently transcribed the audio records but this time by using the TVPTS. Percentages of inter-transcriber agreement were calculated as 79% for ordinary transcription and 85% for the TVPTS. Although the difference between the percentages is not significant there is 6% difference in favor of the TVPTS. Therefore it is concluded that the TVPTS is easily learned and provides to produce reliable transcripts.
