Investigation of bond strengths of different cements anodized individual abutments by electrochemical method and comparison of the adhesions of five different Candida species attached to these different surface properties.

Project no. 228 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Purpose: The purpose of this study was evaluation of tensile strengths of 3 different provisional luting methods on titanium blocks and the calculation of the adhesions of 5 different Candida species attached to these different surface properties. Material and method: 64 titanium blocks of 5 mm height and 10 mm width were produced. Group 1 were electro chemically anodizated, group 2 electro chemically anodizated and roughened, group 3 were just roughtened, and group 4 were not processed (control group). Total sample number was 64 (n=16 x4) and 32 pairs of the blocks luted with Resin Cement, Polycarboxylate Cement, Glass Ionomer Cement and tested their tensile strengths. Tensile strengths were measured in a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/ min and recorded the fracture load (Newton). Strength values were calculated and statistically analyzed by IBM SPSS v25 programme and Kruskal- Wallis method. For microbiological testing materials were divided into four groups (G1, G2, G3 and G4). Gl; for measuring the adhered cells with qPCR, G2; for the counting of living cells in agar plates, G3; for live / dead cell analysis and G4 group; were grouped for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Groups were sterilized by autoclave. Two cell compositions were prepared for adhesion examination. One compound (C1) contained only C. albicans, while the other compound (C2), C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. krusei, C. tropicalis and C. parapsilosis were prepared. Petron plaque was counted in CHROMAgar medium, and copy DNA count was performed in q PCR. A sonication was performed for showing a live / dead microorganism count. Results: Group 2 which exhibited the highest tensile strength ( 56.33 N+-8.33) and while the group 4 showed the lowest tensile strength (7.75 N+- 2.22) compared to other groups (p ? 0.05). These two groups compared with each other and was a statistically significant between these groups 2 and 4. In microbiological tests C. glabrata as the most adeze on the blocks; (547+- 1.83 in bright pure titanium block) and least adherence were determined as C. tropicalis (0 in each block). (p? 0.05). The data were analyzed statistically with SPSS IBM v.25 program and one-way ANOVA. Conclusions: The results confirmed the study hypothesis, showing a positive relation between the tensile strength values and the material properties anodizated. In microbiological test results, it was determined that anodization and smooth surface increased yeast adhesion and C. tropicalis could not be adhered to any titanium block and the presence of other 4 types of yeast in the environment increased C. albicans involvement.
