Summary
The aim of this project is to conduct a survey to determine the problems experienced by women over the age of 65 in the use of underwear, and to design and produce functional and comfortable special underwear that will eliminate the problems experienced in both summer and winter products, according to the results. For this purpose, suitable fabrics for both summer and these were produced. Fiber types of single jersey fabrics produced for summer underwear; it is a blend of 100% cotton, 100% bamboo, 100% viscose, cotton/bamboo and cotton/viscose. Only naturel 100% cotton fiber was chosen for the interlock product produced for winter underwear. Since the fabrics are raw after they are produced, they have been subjected to pre-treatment processes such as basic treatment and bleaching. All pre-treated fabrics were physically tested. Afterwards, some finishing processes were applied to these fabrics in order to gain functional properties. The finishing processes applied to the fabrics are the processes made with softeners such as cationic, micro silicon and macro silicon and substances that give antibacterial properties. Physical, performance and comfort tests such as weight, fabric thickness, friction coefficient, elasticity, size change, bursting strength, air permeability, thermal comfort, moisture transmission properties and antibacterial test were carried out to determine the performance properties of the fabrics after finishing processes.By evaluating the results obtained, at the end of the project, functional and comfortable the summer underwear for old women was produced from 100% viscose knitted fabric treated with macro silicone softener and antibacterial substances. The winter underwear was produced from 100% cotton interlock knitted fabric treated with cationic softener and antibacterial agents.
