Summary

The study was conducted in 2022 during the tobacco growing season using the K326 Virginia variety under producer conditions at two different locations in Hatay and Manisa provinces. The study, which compared yield, yield components, and certain quality parameters in terms of production costs, was designed as a randomized block experiment with three replications. It was conducted on a total of 20 decares, with 10 decares each for both locations. The harvest of Virginia tobacco was completed in five stages. When comparing the two locations, the following differences were observed: approximately 15% in plant height, 25% in leaf count, 7% in nicotine content, 100% in total reducing sugars, 50% in crude ash, 10% in leaf width and length, 12% in yield, and 10% in cost. Additionally, a 10-15 day difference in vegetation period was noted. According to the analyses conducted, sun-cured Virginia tobacco demonstrated better performance than Manisa tobacco in terms of production costs under field conditions in Hatay province.

Keywords: Nicotiana tabacum L., Sun cured, Yield and yield components, Chemical properties, Location
