AFYON ALKALOİDLERİ FABRİKASI ATIKSUYUNUN AKTİF KIRMIZI ÇAMUR VARLIĞINDA HİDROTERMAL YÖNTEMLE ARITILMASI

Project no. 1333 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Afyon Alkaloids Factory is a plant established in Afyon province where alkaloids such as base morphine, base codeine, base ethyl morphine, codeine phosphate and dionine are produced from poppy capsule under government permission and control. The amount of waste water in the process is 840 m3 / day and discharged to Lake Eber after two-stage treatment consisting of chemical precipitation and biological treatment. Since the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) value of the wastewater cannot be reduced below the 1500 mg O2/L discharge limit specified in the Water Pollution Control Regulation 2004, delivered to the receiving environment by diluting. In this project, it is aimed to reduce the COD value in the wastewater below the discharge limit. In hydrothermal gasification, the organic carbon in the waste water reacts with the supercritical water in the batch reactor and converts into H2, CH4 and CO2 rich gas product in the presence of B group active red mud catalysts obtained by precipitation with K2CO3 at 500°C. Modified Activated red mud catalysts were obtained by increasing the efficiency of the catalyst by nickel impregnation and reduction by NaBH4. Experiments were also performed with these catalysts and their effectiveness was compared. Some of the catalysts were characterized by SEM, EDX, XRD and BET analyzes. It has been demonstrated that COD value of wastewater decreased by hydrothermal gasification below the discharge limit at a rate higher COD removal efficiency than in literature. In addition, it has been shown that wastewater can be used as an energy source.
