The role of miRNAs in the effect of endometriosis on oocyte quality
Project no. 21509 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020
Summary
OBJECTS: Patients included in this case were divided into two groups: The case group consisted of infertile patients who underwent IVF or ICSI due to endometriosis and the control group consisted of infertile patients who underwent IVF or ICSI due to male or tubal factor. We investigated miRNA expression differences in follicular fluid and peripheral blood (serum) between the case and control groups in order to identify the role of miRNAs in the impact of endometriosis to the oocyte 8 quality. Our study also looked into the miRNA expression differentiality in serum and follicular fluid within different groups of patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We included infertile patients who underwent IVF or ICSI in Ege University Faculty of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology between September 2019 – October 2020 due to endometriosis as the case group (n=16) and due to male or tubal factor (n=19) as the control group in this study. miRNA expression levels were quantified in the follicular fluid and serum within groups. RESULTS: No statistically significant difference in the follicular fluid level of miR-145-5p, miR-20a-5p and miR-135b-5p between the case and control group with similar demoghraphic informations was identified. However, the follicular fluid level of miR-142-5p, miR-451a, miR-199a-5p and miR-543 was identified higher in the control group. KEYWORDS: endometriosis, oocyte quality, infertility, miRNA
