Evaluation of PD-L1 Expression in Uterine Mesenchymal Tumors
Project no. 30769 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2023
Summary

PDL1 expression will be examined in the hysterectomy material of patients with pathologically diagnosed uterine mesenchymal tumors between 2000 and 2022 at Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A total of 100 patients who underwent surgery at Ege University Department of Gynecologic Oncology will be included in the study. Since it is thought that better results will be obtained in terms of access to files from the archive and evaluation of the files, the files of patients admitted between 2000 and 2022 will be scanned. Hysterectomy materials of these 100 cases will be analyzed. The pathologic diagnosis of these cases will be leiomyoma in 20 cases, leiomyosarcoma in 20 cases, low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma in 20 cases, high grade endometrial stromal sarcoma in 20 cases and endometrial stromal nodule in 20 cases. After the tumor sections of the cases are examined, appropriate paraffin blocks will be removed. Fresh sections from the paraffin blocks will be immunohistochemically stained with PD-L1 marker.Clinical and pathologic data will be retrospectively extracted from patient files and pathology reports. Immunohistochemical staining results will be compared with clinical data. To help guide the future clinical development of novel immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies, we will examine the expression of immune checkpoint proteins in mesenchymal tumor types of the uterus, and if a significant elevation of PD-L1 expression is detected, PD-L1 inhibitor therapy may be offered as an option instead of surgical treatment.
