Synthesis, Purification and Characterization of AminoSugar Derivatives

Project no. 21351 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

In this study, three different amino sugars were synthesized. D-galactose and D-mannose were used as starting sugars. Started from the commercially available ?-Glucochloralose to synthesize the third amino sugar. D-galactose and D-mannose's trichloroethylidene acetals were prepared as a result of reactions of these two sugars with anhydrous chloral. After preparing ?-chloralose, Galactochloralose and Mannocloralose, it was reacted with p-toluenesulfonylchloride to give tosyl derivatives for all. The obtained tosyl derivatives were converted to azide form by nucleophilic displacement reaction. The azide compounds obtained were reacted with triphenylphosphine, a reducing reagent, to obtain amino sugar derivatives (1-3) with high yield. The structures of all the compounds were determined by using spectroscopic techniques such as 1H-NMR, and FTIR in this project. Keywords: Carbohydrate, Synthesis, ?-Chloralose, Galactochloralose, Mannocloralose, Amino sugar, Monosaccharide.
