Summary

Since the beginning of the human existence process, it has been constantly affected by the environment and affects the environment in which it is located. One of the various chemicals/pollutants entering the environment is bisphenol groups. The use of Bisphenol A, which is used as a polymer in various applications, including plastic, has been restricted and prevented after the emergence of many negative effects on living things, especially its endocrine-disrupting effect. Immediately after this process, bisphenol derivatives called “bisphenol analogs” entered the environment. This thesis aims to reveal the ecotoxicological profiles of the analogs Bisphenol E (BPE), Bisphenol Z (BPZ), and Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) by investigating the effects on the bioindicator species Mytilus galloprovincialis.

In the study, different test methods were applied to determine the effects of BPE, BPZ, and BADGE on mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis). It was evaluated with statistical analysis and compared with BPA. In general, it has been determined that all three analogs cause different toxic effects on mussels. It has been determined that although they affect the fertilization success and larval development process, they cause degeneration in terms of histology, cause genotoxic effects, and induce apoptosis.
