Cytokeratin 7 and 19 expression in HPV 16 positive cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 3 and cervical cancers
Project no. 31979 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2024
Summary

The main etiological factors of cervical cancer, which ranks tenth with 2% among all cancers in our country, is the second most common type of cancer among women in the world and is among the leading causes of mortality, are Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The presence of viral DNA has been detected in approximately 97% of the cases. There are studies in the literature evaluating the relationship between HPV and precancerous lesions and cervical cancer, but there are limited studies evaluating the relationship between cytokeratin expressions and clinical course. In this study, 50 cases that underwent surgery at the Department of Gynecological Oncology at Ege University will be included. In 25 of the cases, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 3 (CIN III) will be obtained from conization or hysterectomy materials. HPV 16 positivity will be determined in cases with in situ hybridization. Freshly taken sections from paraffin blocks will be immunohistochemically stained with cytokeratin 7 and 19 markers. Clinical and pathological data of the cases will be extracted retrospectively from patient files and pathology reports. Although there are many studies in the literature evaluating the relationship between HPV and precancerous lesions and cervical cancer, there are a limited number of studies evaluating cytokeratin expressions and the relationship with the clinical course. Cytokeratin 7 and 19 expression is known to play a role in cervical carcinogenesis. The aim of this study was to determine cytokeratin 7 and 19 expression in HPV 16 positive cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 3 and cervical carcinoma cases and to determine their relationship with clinical criteria. The aim of this study is to obtain more data on the subject, to evaluate the relationship between cytokeratin expression and clinical course, and to contribute to the literature.
