Summary

Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil is an important name among Turkish novelists and short story writers and he had written many critical articles about language and literature. After periodical publications some of these articles were published in his books “Sanata Dair” and “Hikâye”. He also published separate books about the history of Western literature. His articles about art, literature and language published in periodical publications, were revealed in “Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s Articles About Art, Literature And Language In Periodical Publications And Not Published In His Books” titled study that we conducted as a part of Ege University Scientific Research Project. Articles about language may have contribution to the studies about wording as well as they’ve had to discussions about language of their time. Critical articles about Turkish and Western literatures are very valuable not only because they shed light on the writer’s and era’s sense of art and source problem but also they reveal the unknown sides of Halit Ziya’s publishing activity. Some of these articles show us that Halit Ziya followed Western literatures very closely and he took it almost as a responsibility to introduce them in Turkey. Keywords: Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, newspaper and journal articles, criticism.
