Histological and Biochemical Evaluation of the Efficacy of the Series on an Experimental Pressure Ulcer Model

Project no. 32375 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2024

Summary

The effects of sericin protein on incisional wounds (Ersel et al., 2016) and burns (Aramwit et al., 2013) have been demonstrated in previous studies. However, there is insufficient evidence regarding the use of this protein in pressure ulcers. Further research is needed to determine the efficacy and safety of this protein in the treatment of pressure ulcers. Sericin protein also holds potential as a novel therapeutic option for pressure ulcers. Understanding the role of natural components such as sericin protein in pressure ulcer management is important for expanding scientific knowledge.

Pressure ulcers are commonly observed among immobilized or elderly patients who present to emergency departments. Compared with patients without pressure ulcers, those with pressure ulcers experience longer treatment durations and higher healthcare costs (Demarré et al., 2015). Gaining insight into the use, efficacy, and safety of sericin protein is important for diversifying treatment options, providing better care to patients, and improving clinical outcomes. Sericin protein may promote wound healing and accelerate the healing process. In the present study, the efficacy and safety of sericin protein—previously proven effective in incisional and burn wounds—will be investigated in the context of pressure ulcers.
