Assessment of IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 Cytokine Expression and IL-4 Gene Polymorphism in Patients with Mycosis Fungoides
Project no. 30820 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2024
Summary

In the early-stage lesions of mycosis fungoides (MF), the most common cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, a Th1-dominant cytokine pattern predominates, whereas a Th2-dominant cytokine profile becomes more prominent in advanced stages. Based on disease pathogenesis, blockage of IL-4 and IL-13 is theoretically expected to be beneficial in the treatment of MF; however, the increasing number of reported MF cases showing disease progression following the use of dupilumab, an IL-4 receptor antagonist, suggests the presence of potential alterations at the level of these cytokines and their receptors. In this study, we aimed to evaluate IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 expression as well as IL-4 receptor gene polymorphisms in tissue samples from 20 MF patients and 20 healthy individuals, to compare MF patients with healthy volunteers, to assess differences across various stages of MF, and to correlate these findings with the clinical features of MF.
