DEVELOPMENT OF A STERNUM FIXATION CORSETRY

Summary
<p>Within this project's scope, improvement and development have been achieved in sternum fixation braces, which are used to support the sternum by wrapping the rib cage to reduce the risks that may occur as a result of body movements after open heart surgeries. Patients do not prefer existing products due to the problems they experience during use, difficulties in wearing, being uncomfortable, etc. For this reason, a sternum fixation corset has been developed in the project, which provides ease of wearing, does not slip, does not sweat, and can provide the desired level of support, especially for female patients with large breasts.</p><p> </p><p>The innovative aspects of this study are that the sternum corset can eliminate user complaints, is produced from non-perspiring materials, and is designed to contribute to the supportive feature of the corset, especially for female patients with large breasts. In addition, different from the production technique of the existing corsets in the market, flat knitting technology was used in the production of corset fabric within the scope of this study.</p><p> </p><p>At the end of the project, a medical product with high added value has emerged, thanks to the innovative product that eliminates the negative aspects of its counterparts in the market. It is a domestic product with design advantages compared to similar imported products. The company operating in the field of medical products has been enabled to expand its product range and increase its competitiveness with this product.</p>
