Project no. 983 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

The aim of this research project is to determine the distribution of citrus, pomegranate and peach planted areas in Selçuk (İzmir) district with high economic value by using digitization method, high resolution satellite images and aerial photographs (orthophoto). With the help of multi-band satellite images purchased in accordance with the plant calendar, citrus, pomegranate and peach trees were been distinguished from other natural and cultural vegetation with similar morphological and physiological characteristics. Laboratory and field studies were be carried out together to determine the distribution and size of the citrus, pomegranate and peach planted areas, which are common species in the areas where subtropical climate is observed. Since fruit cultivation is a long-term and labor-intensive business, the determination of production areas and potential production areas to make the right decisions and implement on-the-spot applications has become a necessity in line with changing socio-economic and global demands.
