INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECTS OF PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SEWING THREADS ON SEWING QUALITY
Project no. 1344 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
The most important factor determining the quality of a garment is the quality of the fabric. In order for the two-dimensional fabric to become a three-dimensional garment, the quality of the fabric alone cannot meet all the criteria for producing high quality clothing. It is known that this includes many factors, such as the selection of appropriate sewing thread, the optimization of sewing parameters, the ease of conversion of the fabric into clothing. Even if the fabric of a garment is in very good condition during use, tears or openings at the seams make it unusable. Therefore, it is necessary to know the thread well. To achieve the desired sewing performance and seam quality, detailed sewing thread knowledge, checking the parameters related to the thread, selecting the right thread and using it correctly are extremely important. Within the scope of the project, sewing threads in varying numbers and types were provided. The physical and mechanical properties of all sewing threads were determined. In the second phase of the project, the woven fabric was sewn with the determined sewing parameters using staple and core-spun threads. The sewn specimens were repeatedly washed 10 times. The seam strength and seam pucker of the washed and unwashed samples were measured, and the performances of the sewing threads removed from the samples were also evaluated. Based on the test results, suggestions were made for the garment production process.
