Project no. 836 · Status: Kapanmış · 2013
Summary
Structural equation modeling of latent traits is used in the present study to examine the extent to which individual factors, social factors and familial factors of divorced family’s children who is attend in middle school correlate with psychological resilience. The study participants consisted of 525 (247 girls and 278 boys) middle school children who is attend 5., 6., 7. ve 8. grade with divorced family’s children who is attend in middle school. “Ego Resiliency Scale, Perceived Social Support From Friends Scale (PSS-Fr), Nowicki-Strickland Internal-External Locus of Control Scale, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale, Kiddo KINDL Quality of Life Questioner (Kid-KINDL), Parental Acceptance – Rejection/Control Questionnaire (EKRÖ/K)” were used to collect data in this study. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized for the data analysis. In this study, it was hypothesized that familial factors, individual factor and social factors would predict psychological resilience of divorced family’s Children. The principal finding of this study is explore that the individual factors, the social factors and the familial factors significantly predict the level of psychological resilience of middle school children whose parents are divorced. The findings of research demonstrated that psychological resilience increases as the divorced family’s quality of life, self esteem, locus of control for success, locus of control for peer relationship, locus of contol for destiny, perceived social support from friends, parental aceeptance refusal increase. As a result, it is thought that the creation of cognitive intervention programs for children and families will contribute to the development of children’s competences in both familial, individual and social areas.
