Summary

As MI is an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, it is critical to understand the pathophysiological basis of ischemic heart injury and to examine the pathways involved in cardiac repair. Myocardial infarction is defined as sudden ischemic death of myocardial tissue. Ischemia is a pathological stimulus for the organism. It affects the various metabolism of the organism as well as the energy requirement, resulting in apoptosis of myocardial cells induced by contractile function and cardiac pump dysfunction. Studies have shown that myocardial cell apoptosis can lead to cellular structure and electrical activity disorders. Myocardial ischemia affects not only the cellular dimension but also the components of the cell. Membrane lipids are the structure that has been emphasized in the studies carried out so far but that the studies need to be deepened. The effect of DHA and Baicalin in experimental myocardial infarction model and their relationship with membrane lipids were investigated. An MI model was created with ISO in rats exposed to DHA and baicalin at a certain day/dose. Then, membrane lipid analysis was performed by biochemical, histopathological and HPLC methods. The obtained data were compared with each other and statistical analyzes were made. As a result of the study, it has been revealed that there is a relationship between myocardial infarction due to the increase in cholesterol and phosphotidylethanolamine in all groups. The presence of PMN leukocytes, which are not common in the histological examination, especially in the DHA group, may indicate the protective effects of DHA at the cellular level. More literature studies are needed to associate the cardioprotective effects of baicalin and DHA with membrane lipids.
