Summary

Three resin composites—universal traditional (URK), flowable (AUK), and unishade (UUK)—were used to test the shear bond strength and color stability of CAD/CAM materials (E.max-EMX, Vita Enamic-VE, Lava Ultimate-LU) and 3D printed resin nanoceramic material (VoS). After aging, Ultradent Porcelain Repair Kit and Universal Clearfil Bond were applied to the plates (6x6x3mm). Then three 4x3mm resin composites were applied to the plates, and a universal testing device was used for the shear test. Initial and second color measurements were completed for color stability, before and after the plates were aged. Next, two cavities were prepared on the plates (half repaired with a repair kit and the other with universal bond) and restored with resin composites. Then the third color measurement was taken. The fourth color measurement was for coffee-stained samples. One-way ANOVA and post-hoc Tukey-HSD were used for the analysis (p=0.05). EMX bonded with URK and repair kit had the highest bond strength (19.77 MPa). After aging, ΔE’s for color stability were EMX=1.04, VE=1.24, VoS=5.46, and LU=9.90. EMX repaired with URK and repair kit had the highest value (19.77 MPa). The Δ’Es after aging were EMX=1.04, VE=1.24, VoS=5.46, and LU=9.90. The differences between EMX, VE, and VoS were insignificant (p>0.05). ΔE’s after baseline and post-coloring: EMX= 1.19, VE= 13.35, LU= 15.84, and VoS= 22.87. The change in EMX was lower than in LU and VoS (p<0.05). All materials had different bond values due to adhesion protocols. Color stability after repair varied by CAD/CAM, VoS, and resin composites.
