THE EFFECT OF THE APPLICATIONS OF PLANT GROWTH PROMOTING RHIZOBACTERIA (PGPR) AND LIQUID VERMICOMPOST ON THE YIELD OF LETTUCE (Lactuca sativa L.) AND SOME SOIL PROPERTIES

Project no. 20449 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

Intensive cultivation in agricultural lands, unconscious chemical fertilizers and pesticide use threaten the health of human and other living things and cause serious damage to natural resources. These practices are the factors that limit the sustainable use of soils. Therefore, it is recommended to use natural products instead of synthetic products in order to increase productivity in agricultural production and to improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soils. In this study; lettuce was grown in soils applied a commercial microbial fertilizer containing plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and a commercial liquid vermicompost and it was studied the effect of these treatments on plant yield and some soil properties. In the experiment conducted as a pot experiment, microbial fertilizer and liquid vermicompost were applied at the recommended doses one week after planting lettuce seedlings. The experiment was carried out according to the randomized block trial design with 3. The treatments were planned as follows: 1) NPK%100, 2) Only liquid vermicompost 3) Microbial Fertilizer + liquid vermicompost, 4) Only Microbial Fertilizer, 5) NPK (50%) + liquid vermicompost, 6) NPK (50%) + Microbial Fertilizer, 7) NPK (50%) + Microbial Fertilizer + liquid vermicompost. After 10 weeks, the plants were harvested and marketable head weights and root lengths were determined. From the samples taken from the pots in a way to represent the whole soil from the application groups during the harvest period; some microbiological and chemical analyzes have been done. The applications of PGPR and vermiwash significantly affected the lettuce yield and some soil properties. PGPR and vermicompost applications were statistically based on average root length and average root age weight from vegetative parameters; it was found significant on the microbiological parameters total bacterial count and soil respiration. The results of the application in the leaf analysis, in total Ca and total Mn parameters; in soil analysis, it was found statistically significant on pH, total salt, available K and total Ca.
