INTEGRATION OF RFID TECHNOLOGY TO THE PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF THE CLOTHING SECTOR AND INVESTMENT EVALUATION

Summary
Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID), which is one of the Auto-ID System, consists of a microchip (tag) and a reader around the antenna. This technology is increasingly and actively used in many different sectors in our country and in the world. While reducing operational costs, it has a direct impact on productivity and profitability by accelerating the flow of work. The ready-to-wear sector is one of the leading sectors that has an important contribution to the Turkish economy. Enterprises in this sector have to manage the flow of information and materials between all value chains effectively in order to provide effective services. Within this framework, it is of utmost importance that data is collected in a fast and reliable manner, and information and material flow is managed effectively. In this study, firstly the history of RFID technology and its usage areas are explained. Then, for the application, a work study and line balancing operations were carried out for the production processes of a garment company operating in İzmir. Feasibility study for the implementation of RFID technology was performed. Thus, the integration of RFID system in garment production is evaluated.
