Project no. 21180 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary
Purpose: This study was carried out to examine the relationship between frailty level and recovery quality of elderly patients hospitalized in the neurosurgery clinic. Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 105 patients aged 65 and over who were treated at the Ege University Health Practice and Research Center, Department of Neurosurgery between October 2019 and June 2021. In the collection of data; "Descriptive Information Questionnaire", "Edmonton Vulnerability Scale", "Quality of Recovery-40 (QoR-40) Questionnaire" was used, which included sociodemographic data. Data were analyzed with number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Spearman Correlation Analysis, Kruskal Wallis H Test, Wilcoxon T test, Mann Whitney U test. Significance level was accepted as 0.05. Results: The mean age of the patients participating in the study was 71.53 ±6.08. The preoperative Edmonton Frailty Scale (EFS-ASD) mean score of the patients was 7.73±2.52 and the postoperative Edmonton Fragility Scale (EFS-ASD) mean score was 7.57±1.88. If the mean score of the Quality of Recovery-40 Scale (QoR-40) in the postoperative period is 134.49±11.09 and Quality of Recovery-40 Scale (QoR-40) sub-dimension mean scores: physical comfort 40.43±4.87, emotional state 34.82±3.07, patient support 24.48±3.81, physical independence Pain was found to be 12.59±2.00 and 22.15±3.42. A positive, highly significant correlation was found between the preoperative Edmonton Frailty Scale (EFS-POS) total score and the postoperative Edmonton Frailty Scale (EFS-ASD) total score (r: .798, p<0.05). A negative, weak, significant correlation was found between the pre-operative period Edmonton Frailty Scale total score (EFS-POS) and the Quality of Recovery-40 (QoR-40) scale total score (r:-2.777, p<0.05). A negative, weakly significant correlation was found between the postoperative Edmonton Frailty Scale total score (EFS-ASD) and the Quality of Recovery-40 Scale (QoR-40) total score (r=-.336, p<0.05). Conclusion: It was found that the patients participating in the study were mildly frail in the preoperative and postoperative period, the well-being of the patients was adversely affected, and there was a negative, weakly significant relationship between frailty and healing quality.
