IRIDIUM CATALYZED ß-ALKYLATION OF SECONDARY ALCOHOLS WITH PRIMARY ALCOHOLS

Project no. 526 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

In this thesis study, we are aiming to synthesize substituted alcohols and ketones selectively by using iridium catalyzed alkylation alcohols along with low amount of catalyst and strong base. The catalytic activities of the Ir-NHC complexes were investigated in the alkylation reactions of numbers of secondary and primary alcohols. It has been observed that this complex catalyze alkylation reactions effectively, within the complexes tested, complex C6 has the best activity. Catalytic experiments were carried out for 18 substrates for each reaction and achieved TON values up to 940.000 in ß-alkylated alcohols and at the same time achieved TOF values up to 98 h-1 in ?-alkylated ketones.
