DETERMINATION OF WEEDS THAT ARE POTENTIAL INTERMEDIATE HOSTS OF TOMATO SPOTTED WILT VIRUS (TSWV) IN TOMATO AND PEPPER CULTIVATION AREAS OF İZMİR AND MANİSA PROVINCES
Project no. 27383 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2023
Summary

In recent years, Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) has been causing production and economic losses in both greenhouse and open areas in many vegetable groups, especially in tomato and pepper fields. It is one of the viruses that cause the most losses to cultivated plants worldwide. Since the cultivated plants, which are the hosts of Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), are grown on the same field every year, an increase in symptoms has been observed. Samples of weeds, which are potential intermediate hosts of TSWV, were taken from different regions, both in winter and summer, in Izmir province and its surroundings. During the surveys in 2023, a total of 203 live samples were collected from tomato and pepper fields, greenhouses and open fields. In these samples, 62 peppers and 141 tomatoes were detected from the fields and tested with DAS-ELISA. Of the weed samples we obtained as a result of the surveys, 9 were infected with TSWV. We obtained 2 positive result in the tests we conducted on winter weeds. 1 infected weed is seen in the sample in the greenhouse lands. TSWV-infected foreign outbreaks were created from 5 samples from tomato fields and 2 from pepper fields.
