THE EFFECT OF APPLICATIONS OF DIFFERENT LIMING MATERIALS (GRANULE-DUST) AND SUGAR INDUSTRY WASTE (VINASSE) ON NUTRIENT CONTENT OF PEPPER AND SOIL PROPERTIES
Project no. 984 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
ABSTRACT The availability of plant nutrients is related to soil reaction (pH). In other words, soil pH is a soil characteristic that significantly affects the availability of plant nutrients. The lime used to increase the pH of the soil affects the physical, chemical and microbiological properties of the soil. Accordingly, the uptake of some plant nutrients in the soil, especially nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) by plant increase. Fruit trees (apple, pear, peach, cherry etc.) and plants such as tomato, pepper, cucumber, strawberry, melon are sensitive to calcium deficiency. The most commonly used liming materials to decrease soil acidity are calcium compounds such as limestone, slaked lime, quicklime and dolomite. The amount of lime to be applied to acid soils varies depending on the pH of the soil, soil texture, the amount of organic matter, the type and amount of clay, the pH demand of the plant, the particle size of the liming material and the degree of purity. This study was carried out in order to determine the effect of two different lime form (powder and granule) and sugar beet factory waste (vinasse) on the yield and nutriton of pepper plant. The experiment was carried out as a pot experiment under greenhouse conditions. Initially, the lime requirement was determined to increase to 6.5 the pH of the experiment soil, and then the experiment subjects were determined as follows: I:Control, II: Dust Lime (TK), III: Granule Lime (GK), IV: Vinasse (ŞL), V: %25 TK+%75 ŞL, VI: %50 TK+%50 ŞL, VII: %75 TK+%25 ŞL, VIII: %25 GK+%75, ŞL IX: %50 GK+%50 ŞL X: %75 GK+%25 ŞL. In the study, 300 kg/da lime was applied to pot soils and the pots were left to incubate for one month. N, P, K as basic fertilization was applied by mixing the soil before planting. As a result of the study, the application of powder lime and vinasse were the most effective applications on the yield and mineral content of pepper plants and the applications were found to be statistically significant. In addition, vinasse applications with different amounts of powder and granular lime have a statistically significant effect on the yield and mineral content of pepper plants compared to the control application. The efficiency of the applications was as follows: Powder Lime > Vinasse > Granule Lime > 50% TK + 50% Vinasse > 25% Granular Lime > 75% Vinasse. The highest values were generally obtained in the applications of powder lime and vinasse. The control application has the lowest values of the studied parameters.
