EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT IRRIGATION PROGRAMS ON YIELD AND WATER CONSUMPTION OF CUCUMBER GROWN IN GREENHOUSE WITH SOILLES CULTURE
Project no. 866 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
In this study, it was aimed to determine the most appropriate irrigation program based on cumulative solar radiation in terms of yield and quality in greenhouse soilless cucumber cultivation, to find out plant water consumption values under different irrigation programs and to compare plant growth, yield and fruit qualities. The research was carried out in perlite culture in four consecutive growing periods in the greenhouse between 2016-2018 [fall (2016-2017 fall (1) and spring (2), 2017-2018 fall (3) and spring (4) periods]) and cucumber cultivar "Champion F1" was used as plant material. Irrigation treatments were carried out according to the values of cumulative indoor solar radiation coming into the greenhouse. For this purpose, 3 different irrigation initial values were selected and irrigations were made during the day based on 1.00, 2.00 and 4.00 MJ/m2 values, and the effects of the treatments on plant growth, yield and fruit quality, irrigation water use efficiency and water use efficiency were determined. The total yield values obtained in the research varied between 9.17 and 9.66 kg/m2 in the first autumn season and between 9.81 and 12.37 kg/m2 in the second autumn period. In the spring periods, it was between 11.47 and 17.72 kg/m2 in the first and between 14.22 and 18.26 kg/m2 in the second cycles. In the first season, the savings achieved in irrigation water amount in 1 MJ/m2 according to the treatments 2 and 4 MJ/m2 were 1.5% and 19.7%, respectively; 4.5% and 27% in the second cycle; 26.3% and 42.5% in the third and 15.9% and 35.3% in the fourth cycles. In the first season, irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) in 4 MJ/m2 compared to 1 and 2 MJ/m2 was found to be 17.65% and 15.69% and water use efficiency (WUE) 15.21% and 7.78% higher, respectively. In the second season, the highest IWUE (37.01 kg/m3) and WUE (37.01 kg/m3) values were obtained from the treatment 2 MJ/m2, followed by 1 MJ/m2. In the third season, in the treatment of 4 MJ/m2, it was determined that the IWUE values were 34% and 17.43% higher than 1 and 2 MJ/m2, and the WUE values were 3.5% and 2.73%, respectively. In the fourth season, in 4 MJ/m2, the IWUE values were higher than 1 and 2 MJ/m2, respectively 35.61% and 13.2%, and the WUE values wre 15.32% and 2.16%, respectively. When all the obtained findings were evaluated together, it was concluded that among the tested treatments the use of the treatment MJ/m is appropriate in soilless cucumber cultivation in the greenhouse, due to its effects on both IWUE and WUE and it does not cause yield loss.
