The Effects of Cruciferae Family Species on Yield and Some Quality Traits of Obtained Fungal Endophytes in Proceesing Tomato Production
Project no. 1131 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
The study was carried out between 2019-2021 in order to determine the activities of fungal endophytes obtained from some Cruciferae family species on germination/emergence, plant growth, yield and some fruit quality characteristics of industrial tomato. For this purpose, Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of horticulture laboratory and research area, E.U. Seed Technology Application and Research Center Laboratories and tomato producer land in Izmir-Torbalı region were used. Germination test was performed on endophytic fungi obtained from without pesticied rocket, cabbage, radish, cress, cauliflower, broccoli and rapeseed seeds obtained from various seed companies. Rapeseed a/2, Cabbage 9, Broccoli c/1a, Cress 6, Rocket 12, Cress 4, Broccoli e/1, Rocket 1, Cabbage 2, Radish 14, Rapeseed e1 and Radish 13 to be used in germination tests for seedling and field trials has been selected. The seeds of the Rio Grande variety treated with endophytes and untreated seeds were planted in nursery conditions, and the emergence rate and mean emergence time were determined by counting at intervals of 2 days after seed sowing. The seedlings that reached the planting size in the nursery were planted in the field according to the endophyte applications. In addition, seedlings obtained from seeds without endophyte application were planted in the same plot after dipping in the same endophyte solutions for 5 minutes. The seedlings were planted at 140*25 cm distances in the producer's field in the Torbalı region, using drip irrigation method and a randomized block design with 3 replications, with 20 plants in each plot. In the first year of the study, a trial consisting of 90 plots was established, with a total of 15 applications*2 application methods (seed and seedling dipping)* 3 replications, including control seed, water and potato juice treated seed. In the second year of the study, 5 applications (Rape e1, Broccoli c/1a, Cabbage 9, Cabbage 2 and Radish 13) determined to be effective in the first trial year and a total of 8 applications were selected as control, potato juice and water. The second year study was also carried out in 48 plots according to 2 application methods (seed application and seedling dipping) and 3-replication random blocks. At the end of the first study year, it was decided to repeat Rapeseed e1, Broccoli c/1a, Cabbage 9, Cabbage 2 and Radish 13 endophytes from a total of 12 different endophytes evaluated in terms of their effects on the determined seedling emergence, yield and some fruit quality characteristics in the second study year. In the second study year, Cabbage 2, Cabbage 9 and Radish 13 endophytes provided high and fast emergence, Cabbage 9, Cabbage 2 and Broccoli c/1a applications provided high fruit weight, Radish 13, Cabbage 9 and Broccoli c/1a high yield value. The highest brix value was obtained in Broccoli c/1a and Rapeseed e/1 applications. As a result, it has been determined that the effect of endophyte applications on seed emergence, fruit yield and fruit quality characteristics of seed and seedling dipping applications in Rio Grande industrial tomato production varies according to endophyte species. However, at the end of the 2-year study, it was determined that Cabbage 2, Cabbage 9, Radish 13 and Broccoli c/1a endophytes were effective. In the evaluation of the yield and fruit quality characteristics obtained, it was concluded that the dipping application of seedlings to fungal endophytes before planting was both effective and applicable.
