Project no. 157 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
Objective: The aim of the study is to observe the effects of speech therapy in patients who develop global aphasia after stroke. Materials and methods: Patients who met the inclusion criteria were given a 15 days of speech therapy as well as a session of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) the inferior frontal gyrus of the right frontal lobe (contralateral region of the lesion area) in 1- Hz low-frequency. Speech therapy was given as 15 days, 60 minutes per day. Minimental test (MMT), Ege aphasia test(EAT), aphasia quality of life scale (SAQOL-39) were obtained in before and after the treatment. Conclusion: The rTMS treatment added to speech therapy has not been shown to be effective on global aphasic patients. There was no significant change in the values before and after the treatment. However, more studies are needed to demonstrate the effects of speech therapy and rTMS application.
