A STUDY FOR DETERMINING THE PERFORMANCE OF USE OF EMBROIDERED PRODUCTS PRODUCED FROM METALLIZED YARN
Project no. 1278 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
Metallized yarns are obtained by coating one or two faces of polyester films of different thicknesses with epoxy or paint for aluminum and protection purposes and cutting them in different widths. The processing of polyester films, which are the raw materials of metallized yarns, in accordance with the production of metallized yarns is carried out by metallization. In this method, the aluminum is vaporized by heating and sprayed on the polyester film at high pressure. Textile products produced by using metallized yarn are exposed to various effects during production, use and washing. Due to these effects, the aluminum film layer on the polyester film is removed from the film and the glossy surface feature, which is the main reason for the use of the decorative yarn for decorative purposes, is also eliminated. The resistance of the metallized yarns to the effects that it is exposed to determines the service life of the textile products used in its structure. Within the scope of the project, embroidered samples were produced using metallized yarns supplied in 2 different fineness and color, and these samples were subjected to repeated washing, ironing and dry cleaning tests which were the most exposed to textile products and their usage performance was determined. The fastness and usage performance characteristics of embroidered samples produced from embroidery type metallized yarns sold in the market were determined by tests performed according to standards. As a result of the evaluations, it was determined that the embroidered samples were resistant to a certain number of repetitive washing, dry cleaning and ironing tests, maintained their surface appearance considerably, but after repeated washing and dry cleaning, the surface appearance was slightly deteriorated. However, it has been observed that gold colored metallized yarns are more durable in the dry-cleaning test than metallic colored metallized yarns. On the other hand, in the three repetitive ironing fastness tests of embroidered products, no changes were observed in the surface appearance of the products.
