Synthesis of Bioactive S-Triazine Derivative

Project no. 32077 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023

Summary

1,3,5-triazine which is one of the isomers of triazine, also called s-triazine, is a six-membered heterocyclic aromatic compound. It is a good starting material because it is cheap and easily accessible, many different derivatives can be prepared, and has a wide range of uses (such as pharmaceuticals, textile, rubber and plastic industries). s-triazine compounds have an important place in pharmaceutical chemistry because they have important biological activities, especially antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, antiviral, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antileishmanial etc. In addition, it is predicted that the presence of a bioactive group such as thiourea in the structure will further increase its biological activity. Therefore, in the Project, a new molecule containing both s-triazine ring and also a thiourea group was synthesized.

First stage of the project is the synthesis of thiourea containing multifunctional groups. For this purpose, N-benzoyl-N’-carboxyalkyl substituted thiourea derivatives were prepared by reacting benzoyl isothiocyanate which was prepared from benzoyl chloride with L-valine and L-phenylalanine. In the next step, a new triazine derivative was prepared by performing amidation reaction with the synthesized valine derivatives 2-amino-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine and DCC (N,N’-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide). The product was characterized with FTIR, 1H ve 13C NMR.

Key words: s-triazine, thiourea, bioactive molecule
