Project no. 20959 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2019
Summary

The fixed oil obtained from the seeds of Linum usitatissumum from the Linaceae family is known as "linseed oil" and is used externally in the treatment of wounds and burns among the people. Fixed oils obtained from plant seeds have been extensively used for numerous purposes in Turkey. The increase in interest and use in this field, especially in recent years, has led to an increase in the number of producers and the variety of vegetable oil produced. Monounsaturated fatty acids have positive effects on cholesterol and improve risk factors in cardiovascular diseases. Various studies have been carried out on the positive effects of flaxseed oil on antiulcer, antioxidant, blood lipid and cholesterol levels when used internally.

Within the scope of our thesis, three different linseed oil samples obtained from the market and the oil sample obtained by extraction from flaxseed we purchased were used as the study material. For the quality comparison of oil samples, physical determinations weremade with solubility, density, refractive index. In addition, high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and vitamin E (α-tocopherol) determinations of the oil obtained from these commercially supplied oils were made and compared with each other.
