A RESEARCH ON DETERMINATION OF USE GOATS ON PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRONIC LEG AND EAR TAG
Project no. 319 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015
Summary
In this study; The comparability of the use of electronic leg and ear identification methods in Saanen goats and their effects on animal welfare have been examined. The material of the study consisted of 57 female goats in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th lactation and the data obtained during a complete lactation period. In the study, the electronic ear number of 27 heads Saanen and the other 30 heads of animals were attached to the electronic leg number. In order to be able to read the numbers of the animals' ears and leg, one is placed in the milking place while the other is in the milking place, and the readings are carried out individually with two antennas to be mounted instead of weighing. During a lactation period of approximately 270 days, the goats entered the ritual twice a day and received individual readings twice a day from the pit at the milking place. The number of unreadable numbers for the electronic leg and ear tags attached were; It ranges from 3.7% to 14.8%. During the summer months and fall seasons, when the number of falls is not observed in the winter season, it is more since April when the animals started to come out to the water. Based on the temper status, it is determined that the numbers of the falling numbers are relatively higher (5) in the animals to which the electronic ear number is attached. In this numbering method, the readability ratio (RR,%) of the numbers in the calm goats was lower (83.33%). In other words, in calm animals, the time it takes for the number to be inserted can be 15.6 seconds, while this value is 19.10 seconds for nervous animals. Foot infections were not observed in 95.7% of calm animals. The values determined in terms of breast infections are similar to those in foot infection. Ear infections were not found in calm temperaments. In this study, rates of ear infections in animals with nervous structures are around 25%. The cost of the electronic foot numbering method was 2.68 times higher than the ear number. Another important point is that the electronic ear attachment time is shorter than the foot band. As a result, it can be said that both the total cost and the cost per animal are favorable for the current ectopic ear number. As a result, it can be said that both the total cost and the cost per animal are favorable for the current ectopic ear number.
