Summary

RESEARCHES ON THE SEED QUALITY ENHANCING TREATMENTS OF SOME TURFGRASS SPECIES In this study, it is aimed to increase the germination and emergence performance of grass seeds which are widely used in many fields ranging from park and garden to sports fields and to improve seed quality with the treatments to be performed. For this purpose, Lolium perenne L., Festuca arundinacea, Festuca rubra and Cynodon dactylon seeds were used as trial material. In order to improve the germination and emergence performance of these seeds and to improve their quality, the seeds were treated with some pre-sowing treatments. For this purpose, six different treatments including pre-cooling, polymer coating, priming, KNO3 treatment, priming + polymer coating and priming + polymer coating + KNO3 treatments were treated to all seeds. The effect of these treatments on the germination and emergence rate and the average germination and emergence time of the seed compared to the control were investigated. According to the findings, priming + polymer coating + KNO3 treatment gave the best germination and emergence rates in all species. In terms of germination speed, the shortest average germination time (MGT) was obtained with priming and combined treatments with priming in all species
