Investigation of Settlement Behavior of Alluvial Soil Deposits at Macro Level Based on the Interaction Between Coarse and Fine Grain Matrices at Micro Level
Project no. 1383 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
In nature, soils occur as a combination of sand, silt and clay sized particles. In this thesis, variation in mechanical behaviour of sand- silt/clay mixtures with respect to fine content is investigated by fall cone, compaction and consolidation tests. In this respect, concepts like transition fines content, limiting fines content, global void ratio, intergranular void ratio and interfine void ratio are of major concern in order to interpret the mechanical behaviour. Experimental data obtained in this study both contributes to experimental database for the mechanical behaviour of intermediate soils and to the discussion on applicability of void ratio concepts on these types of soils. Keywords: Intermediate soils, transition fine content, limiting fine content, intergranular void ratio, interfine void ratio
