Comparison of Different Torque Wrenches Used in Dental Implant Torquing Procedures
Project no. 26329 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023
Summary

Implants are widely used in prosthetic treatments in dentistry. Although the success rate of implant-based treatments is very high, mechanical complications can occur; the most common complications are screw fractures and screw loosening, which are responsible for connecting the prosthesis to the implant. These complications may lead to bone loss around the implant, loss of osseointegration, and misalignment between the abutment and the superstructure. To avoid these negative outcomes, the torqueing phase of the implant during the prosthetic treatment process is crucial. The implant should be torqued to the value recommended by the implant brand; otherwise, the complications mentioned above are inevitable.

In this project, the differences in torque values will be compared using three different torque wrenches. Even when the same torque value is applied, it is known that different torque values can be produced with different types of wrenches. A limited number of studies comparing torque values can be found in the literature. In this project, torque will be applied with different wrenches and compared according to the target values we aim to achieve.
