Preparation of A Thiosugar Library for Using in Gold Nanoparticle Applications

Summary
The synthesis of carbohydrate-functionalized nanoparticles is very important as they are excellent candidates for probing glycobiological events. These molecules were either thiolated carbohydrate or bifunctional thiols (e.g., mercaptopropionic acid). The thiols were chemisorbed onto the nanoparticle surface, and another functional group was used to link with carbohydrate. In this study, four protected sugars having thio functional group have been synthesized with the aim of preparation of a thio-sugar library for the functionalizing various nanoparticle systems.
