Project no. 928 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015

Summary

The courses the in the field of Classical Archaeology, which aims to explore the Greek and Roman civilizations and their relation and interactions to distinct cultures, examine mainly the art of ancient pottery, sculpture and architecture. On the other hand, the department of Archaeology at the Ege University is renowned for its research in various areas, especially for its expertise in ceramic studies. The tradition of ancient ceramics is introduced in many various aspects especially to the undergraduate students. The courses are enriched with a rich series of illustrations during the courses; however, the students are unaware of the actual sizes and shape details of the ancient ceramics. Many students can only see the original vessels in the museums or in the excavations but still unaware of the intact parallels of the relevant vases. With this need in mind, a project that intends to reproduce examples of common Greek vases that are continuously displayed during undergraduate courses was planned in order to support the undergraduate courses. This interdisciplinary project was carried out with A. Perizat Tümen Uncular from the Ege University, Ege Vocational School, Program of Ceramic, Glass and Tile.
