MONITORING OF THE EFFECTS OF AGRICULTURAL POLICIES ON LAND USE IN THE EXAMPLE OF THE KÜÇÜK MENDERES BASIN
Project no. 21437 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020
Summary
Monitoring the effects of agricultural policies on land use and production is very important in order to make more effective decisions. It is thought that these days, when the technology is advanced in order to determine the agricultural product pattern by remote sensing technique and the mapping accuracy rate is increasing, it has become an important tool to monitor the effects of agricultural policies on land use. With this project, the usability of remote sensing technique and geographic information systems has been investigated in determining the spatial effect of the agricultural production policies implemented in the last 10 years, especially the premium-support system. Küçük Menderes basin, which is one of the important agricultural production areas of İzmir province, has been selected as the study area. In the project, supports given to herbal and livestock products for the last 10 years were used as basic data. Livestock supports are known to increase forage crop production areas. In addition, the change in the production areas of the supported plants was also examined. As a result, the effects of both livestock and crop production supports on the amount of cultivated area on the basin basis for each year have been examined by classifying archival satellite images. For this purpose, the Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, satellite image archive and software-hardware facilities were used.
