The Impact of Effector Triggered Immunity on GABA-shunt in Brassica napus L.
Project no. 26299 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023
Summary

All living things are constantly interacting with each other and their environment. Due to their sesile nature, plants cannot escape harsh and harmful environmental conditions therefore they have to cope with various stress factors. Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a four-carbon amino acid which does not incorporated into the protein structure. GABA biosynthesis and catabolism is defined as the GABA-shunt, which involves the enzyme activities of glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), GABA transaminase (GABA-T) and succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSADH). GABA and the GABA-shunt are involved in both stress responses and normal growth and development processes in plants. In our project, we aimed to examine how the GABA-shunt interacts with effector-triggered immunity in plants. In order to achieve this goal; we applied Flg-22 as an effector to Brassica napus L. plants. We analyzed the differences in the GABA contents, physiological parameters, GDH, GAD, GABA-T and SSADH enzyme activities, and MYC2, MPK6 and ZAT12 relative transcript abundances in leaf and root samples after flg-22 treatment.
