SYNTHESIS OF ORGANIC DYE DOPED ZnO AND TITANIUM DIOXIDE, CHARACTERIZATIONS AND THE COMPARISON OF PHOTOCATALYTIC PROPERTIES

Project no. 639 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017

Summary

The photocatalytic oxidation used in the decomposition of organic pollutants is among the advanced oxidation techniques and is a very effective method. In this project, a thermally and chemically stable organic dye (m-coumaric acid substituted zinc phthalocyanine) material was first synthesized and spectroscopic characterizations were made by FTIR, NMR, uv- Visible region absorption methods. On the other hand, after titanium dioxide and zinc oxide semiconductor materials were synthesized by easy methods such as sol-gel and mechochemistry and their spectroscopic definitions were made, dye sensitized-TiO2 and ZnO nano composite catalyst materials were started to be prepared. The photocatalytic capacitance of all obtained catalysts were investigated with methylene blue pollutants. At the photodegredation yield calculations and spectroscopic measurement results; m-coumaric acid substituted zinc phthalocyanine-ZnO nano composite product, 100% degradation efficiency under xenon lamp radiation simulated to sunlight in 45 minutes was much more successful than other dye sensitized-TiO2 catalyst. As a result, zinc phthalocyanine dye-sensitized-ZnO was found to be one of the most effective photocatalysts in methylene blue degradation.
