Preparation of Sunscreen Pickering Emulsion Formulations

Summary
Sun rays cause serious skin diseases that can even cause skin cancer. Therefore, we need to protect our skin against sun rays. In this sense, sunscreen products have an important role in protecting the skin. It is recommended to use sunscreen products by experts. Many sunscreen products are available in simple cream, lotion or spray form. Scientific studies have shown that Pickering emulsions are effective in synergistic effective sun protection. The aim of this study is to design Pickering emulsions with low energy, high sun protection factor (SPF), without surface active agent (YEM). It is seen that Pickering emulsions, which are the emulsions stabilized with solid particles where YEM and temperature are not used, are the most suitable formulations in this field. Prepared Pickering emulsion formulations characterized by pH measurement, viscosity, electrical conductivity, flow, GKF measurement and stability. As a result of the study, stable formulations with appropriate characterization parameters were prepared. The SPF value of the products was found to be 30 (+). This shows that they have a high protection factor. These formulations are promising as sunscreen products.
