Investigation of The Effects of Calcium Nutrition and 1-MCP Application on Postharvest Resistance of Eşme and Ege 22 Quince Varieties

Project no. 20403 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2019

Summary

The study was carried out to reveal the effects of Ca nutrition and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) application on post-harvest strength in Eşme and Ege 22 quince varieties. After harvest, 1% CaO2H2O + 0.5% H3BO3 was applied to the trees before the leaves fell. Control trees were sprayed with water only. Application for Ca nutrition during the growing period; Post-harvest Ca applied and non-applied trees were divided into two groups. The first group was applied Ca 5 times in May, June, July, August and September, and the second group was applied twice foliar Ca, which is commonly applied by the producers in the region. After the fruits were harvested, the fruits harvested from trees belonging to Eşme and Ege 22 quince varieties, with and without Ca application, were divided into two groups. While 1250 ppb 1-MCP was applied to one group of fruits for 24 hours, no application was made to the other group of quince fruits. 1-MCP applied and unapplied control fruits were stored at 0°C and 85-90% relative humidity for 180 days. Some physical, chemical and biochemical changes were determined after the quince samples taken before and at 45-day intervals during storage were kept at shelf life for 7 days. The results showed that fruits in which spring Ca and Ca and 1-MCP were applied together could be stored more successfully at a shelf life of 7 days in addition to 180 days of storage.
