Cellulose based activated carbon nanofibers for carbon dioxide capture

Project no. 24167 · Status: Kapanmış · 2022

Summary

Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have been continuously increasing, with carbon dioxide accounting for the largest share among these gases. Therefore, carbon dioxide capture technologies play a critical role in combating global warming. This project proposal focuses on carbon dioxide capture using adsorption methods with carbon-based materials. In this context, activated carbon nanofibers will be produced from cellulose-based nanofibers fabricated via electrospinning, and their carbon dioxide capture performance will be investigated in relation to thermochemical process parameters. The studies to be conducted within the scope of this project will represent a novel contribution to the literature. This project is expected to be beneficial not only by contributing to the fight against global warming, but also by enabling the development of high value-added new products through the use of nanofibrous materials, which have recently gained commercial viability both globally and in our country.
